Captain Mike's Wanderings

Stories about the wanderings of Captain Mike Haskell as he makes his way around the Caribbean and South America. The stories that seem unbelievable are the ones that are true...you can't write fiction that compares with reality. I'll discuss people, places, things to do, food and weather...and anything else that strikes my fancy. There is no "big plan", no itinerary. It will go day-to-day, just as it happens. Come along for the adventure.

About Me

My photo
Captain Mike Haskell
Well, let's see now. I'm 65, divorced, father of three awesome sons. I was a businessman, entrepreneur and consultant all my professional career...then I decided to start sailing. Got my USCG captain's license and went sailing. Found the Caribbean and Guyana. The "rent-a-captain" business is real slow, so I came to Guyana to do volunteer work with the indigenous Amerindians as they build their eco-tourism industry. I like both cats and dogs for different reasons, the feel of the helm in a good blow. I believe that all living things on Earth developed to their current state because of competition. I believe that war is a normal state of affairs and peace is abnormal. Every life form is trying to dominate another for the resources to survive. I like beef and think that a wonderful night out includes a great steak dinner, a smooth bourbon and a great cigar. I'm pretty much a loner and an adventurer. I get uneasy when I sit still too long. I'm like a labrador retriever. If you don't give me something to do, I'll find something that will get me into trouble. I like children and love beautiful women.
